SATURDAY, MAY 13TH
“Pottery and Flowers”: The Art of Creating and Arranging
Local clay workers, Megan Billingham and Kelly Brothers have teamed up with Cornerstones master horticulturist, Steven Schwagger to bring the art of pottery and flower arranging to you this Mother’s Day. This hands-on floral arranging class is the ideal setting for spending special time with the “mom” in your life. You will walk away with an incredible experience learning about the art and history of clay and pottery, experiencing live wheel throwing demonstration, as well as a beautifully handcrafted vase, by Megan and/or Kelly, filled with your own floral arrangement custom created by you!
During a live wheel-turning demonstration, Megan Billingham will share more about the intersection of clay with her own life, her approach to making and engaging with the material, and how history has helped to shape her explorations in form and utility. Visit one-on-one with Megan and Kelly and choose your vase to purchase from them and learn about the story behind their creations.
Steven Schwagger will guide you through a floral arranging segment, assisting the group in the art of arranging various styles of vases. Each guest will pick from a variety of florals and greenery to fill their custom hand-crafted vase.
Location: The Studio at Cornerstone
Fee: Entrance Fee is $55, plus the cost of the vase for your flower arrangement (ranges from $25-$65). If you choose to not purchase a vase, you may use the complimentary cloth floral wrap to take your arrangement home in.
