Many of us only think of honeybees when we think of pollinators, but did you know there are 1,600 species of native bees in California?! That’s quite a few bees and those bees need gardens. Bee-friendly gardens are flower-filled gardens, and the same flowers that offer pollen and nectar rewards to bees offer us some of the most beautiful landscapes and create an uplifting and inspirational environment that will forever transform your relationship with your yard.

This class is a remarkable opportunity to hear from two of the top people in the field – Dr. Gordon Frankie and Kate Frey. Dr. Frankie, trend-setting and renowned bee-friendly scientist from U.C. Berkeley, will discuss his research on native bees in urban environments, talk about their lives and share some spectacular, eye-opening photos of bees and their habitats. Kate Frey is the Chelsea Flower Show multiple gold-medal-winning designer of pollinator-friendly gardens and a popular garden educator. Kate’s gardens contain a brilliant symphony of color and are sure to delight all who experience them.
